I'm all too familiar with snopes...it talks about claims and emails but it doesn't directly address the videos of people popping popcorn with cell phones (the videos)...or I was just too lazy to read far enough down to catch that. If it's a fake I would be interested in knowing how they did that!

So yeah! Let's do our own mythbusters...collaboratively or independently, and we can share results (or lack there of).

I don't know if you read all the way to the bottom of the Snopes link, but it says the video's were:

In June 2008 the joke was expanded to include a trio of videos depicting people purportedly using cell phones to pop popcorn, all of them part of a marketing scheme launched by Cardo Systems, Inc. (a provider of Bluetooth Headset solutions)
So it was a marketing gimmick by a Bluetooth headset provider, click on the Cardo link...... therefore it was done with "special effects"...

Ahhh! Those sneaky basta... marketers! So much for using it as a survival tool if my plane crashes...I figured as long as I carried bottled water, popcorn, and could round up a couple cell phones I'd be able to survive!

Heat source underneath...hmmm could be could be...

My sister has a wall filled with degrees, is a dean of a college and is a member of mensa and she fell for it...then sent it to me! Dare I tell her it's not real?
