If you want to see lodge pole pines in Colorado, you may want to go in the next year or two. The pine beatle are going crazy. Locals say that in 5-10 years no lodge poles will be left. Really sad site. On the second picture the ENTIRE side of the mountain is brown, ie DEAD.

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

The scary part is so many are dead, just one strike of lightning and there's going to be some huge fires. My brother lives in Colorado Springs and is looking to buy land closer to the sky slopes, but he's waiting to see what happens to these poor trees first.

    ...Crested Butte (Tuesday night)...

...and the north rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a.k.a. CO Hwy 92.

If you look up this state road on google maps, you'll see it's nice 'n' twisty. There's a fair amount of elevation change, as well.

Just got to Grand Junction early this afternoon. I'm sure there'll be some shots from FM's intergalactic headquarters and the nearby kart track in the next few days.

Ended up walking right by the Wooden Nickel, actually. It was first on the list for dinner & drinks, but the place was packed! I decided to pick a seat at a 2nd floor pub called The Eldo. The place had a ton of character and had clearly been there for quite some time judging by the architecture, layout and some of the little details (gold lettering behind, rather than painted on top of, the glass of the big bar mirror, for example).
I'll see if Crested Butte ends up on the travel plan for the return trip. The Nickel's definitely on my list! :)

    ...Grand Junction and Flyin' Miata!

FM just moved into a new facility and spent most of the last week cleaning up.

A couple of folks spent some time making some tuning changes on this li'l number:

...and who doesn't love a shop that has pets? Meet Turbodog.

...and just to make Titus jealous...

Track photos coming after tomorrow's fun.
