With your love of the 'lac, thought of the SRX?

The employee pricing puts the v6 under 35k (33,xxx) and around 23 MPG per the EPA.

The Venza is built in the Camry Plant on our vacation we took a tour of the plant and got to see some pre-production Venza they looked pretty good. I'm also wondering how it will ride since it is basically a tall Camry.

The Highlander is way bigger than the RAV4. My dad got an '08 Highlander Sport about 2 months ago and he let my family use it for a week long family trip. After a week with it and almost 2200 miles, we came away not wanting a Highlander, don't get me wrong it is very nice it's just not me. We had a RAV4 4 banger as a rental a while back and liked it, so it may be in the running. I need to add it to my list!

Other than Miatas Mazda doesn't offer anything I'd really consider.
Isn't the Highlander built on the Camry platform? We test drove a few of those; they were great.

Yea I also like the CTS need to make a trek to the 'lac dealer and drive them.

The Highlander was built on an Avalon chassis we were told, and the Avalon is basically a stretched Camry.

I do kind of like the Bling Bling of the Avalon.

Avalons and Cadillacs... well, I guess you are getting old enough to fit that demographic.

My dad bought a CTS in 2005. Amazingly, he still loves it. This is the first GM product he has had that long that he did'nt hate after purchasing. He purchased his at Moritz in Arlington. They beat the Crest dealers price by a long shot. The Crest dealer wanted more for the car with the same options, but with the smaller V6 than Moritz offered and with less haggling.

Buy the CTS V!!!!!!!!! Then you can carry your kids to the grocery store faster than everyone else on the block. Maybe Ken will then buy one so we can drive it at the APEX instructor day!!

Hell, he has 3 weeks before he has to do anything... If Ken buys one now, it should be available for POS to pick up used with plenty of time to spare!

CTS V is going to be a bit spendy...

But ya know I can get quite the deal on a Pontiac G8 GT... Hmmmmmm

My problem with the G8 GT is it is a Holden badged as a Pontiac sold by GM.... Which makes me wonder about reliability, longevity, and parts availability.... Plus has anyone ever seen one of these on the streets yet?

Those numbers are on par with the twin-turbo BMW 335i and the Infiniti G37, but the Pontiac's sticker undercuts both by thousands (more than $10 grand in the case of the Bimmer).

With the recent addition of a couple of new product lines at the world headquarters I will be driving more than I have in the past. So I had planned to buy the next work car and just run it into the ground...

I've seen a couple on the street. They look pretty mean, especially in darker colors.

The drivetrain ought to be bulletproof, since GM has built a gazillion LSx engines, and the 6L80 transmission has been in everything from the Vette to the Yukon Denali to the XLR-V Series. If it's good enough for a $100k Caddy, it ought to hold up in a $30k Pontiac.

How the rest of the car will hold up is anyone's guess, but I'd bet being a rebadged Holden is probably a good thing.

All the reviews I've read compare the G8 to a poor man's M5. That doesn't sound like a bad thing at all, although I'd probably want to hold out for the GXP.

Lease and when GM goes bankrupt you should be free of the lease.

IIRC, if a car company goes belly up, Big Brother has provisions to make OEM parts available for 7 years.
At least, that's the way it was when DeSoto went out of business

For some reason GM and run-it-into-the-ground doesn't inspire long term confidence in me.
