Which EBC are you looking at running. I am thinking of getting the Greddy Profec B....
Well, I have been slowly getting my Miata to the power level I want. Finally got the AEM EMS installed, and did a few street tunes to make it driveable. We put it on the dyno this evening to see if there was any fine tuning we needed to do...it was almost perfect, running 11-10.8 A/F, with a rich area between 3-4k. It is tuned to be safe right now, we'll work on it making more power when we turn up the boost. It's currently only running off the 5.5psi wastegate.
Video of 2d (and last) dyno run:
Dyno results:
The red line was running 7psi with some basic bandaids (fuel/timing piggybacks).
Big difference with 1.5psi less.
Later this week we'll be installing the EBC and running 12-15psi (or more).
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

Ya sure you want a Greddy??The market for aftermarket parts from Japan has been declining for well over five years, due in part to decreased demand both at home and abroad and the rising rates of Chinese knock-offs and other inexpensive (and dubiously built) components.
Today, one of the world's largest performance parts companies, known as Trust in Japan and Greddy here in the States, declared bankruptcy. According to various reports, Trust is approximately $60 million in debt and, after reporting a serious decline in sales since February 2008 and amassing $43 million in loan payments, filed for bankruptcy in Tokyo District Court.
Trust has been around since 1976, employs almost 200 workers and had been dealing in everything from CARB-legal exhausts to turbo systems when Greddy Performance Products was founded in the U.S. in 1994. There are several firms that will step up to fill the need of enthusiasts, assuming that Trust doesn't try to reorganize, but with the aftermarket industry down overall, we suspect this won't be the last time we'll here about a large tuner going under.
Looks good Ray. Is this from the Alamo dyno (not even sure if they have a dyno)?
Why don't you post up a list of mods to.

TRUST CO. LTD, JAPAN, FILES FOR MINJI-SAISEI-HOU IN TOKYO
GReddy Performance Products Inc., Parent Company to Undergo Reorganization Through Japanese Equivalent of U.S. Chapter 11 Filing
September 9th, 2008, Irvine, CA-GReddy Performance Products, a California Corporation, has announced that its parent corporation, TRUST Co. LTD, has filed for Minji-saisei-hou in Tokyo, Japan, the U.S. equivalent of a Chapter 11 reorganization plan. As in the U.S., this filing is a common strategy utilized by companies to allow them to continue to conduct business and service customers while undergoing an internal reorganization process.
This reorganization will have little, if any effect on GReddy Performance Products Inc., USA. GReddy assures its customers that it has ample inventory of all products for the U.S. market, and there are no production delays on new and current product lines coming from Japan. GReddy looks forward to exhibiting at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV in its 20' x 40' booth, and will have three new project vehicles and new 2009 products on display. Representatives from both GReddy USA and TRUST Co. LTD Japan are attending the SEMA Show to answer questions about the reorganization and future plans for the company to retain its dominance in the sport compact market segment for the next 30 years.
Stated GReddy Performance Product's Kenji Sumino, "TRUST Co. LTD Japan has filed for bank protection in order to restructure. This does not affect GReddy Performance Products USA at this time. In fact, we are working on plans to assist TRUST Co. LTD Japan during this process in every way we can. We have more than adequate inventory to sustain us until TRUST Co. LTD Japan returns to full production capabilities. As more information becomes available, we will release it to the media."

why so rich?
TXMC: Drinkin, shootin, racin!
It's not rich. 11-11.5:1 AF is the standard that all NA to FI tuners use. You tune 13-14:1 for non-boost driving, but under boost you try to stay 11.5:1 or richer.

this is what I hate about tuning philosophies. DIY recommended 12.0-12.4, Alamo says 11.5. What gives?
TXMC: Drinkin, shootin, racin!
sacrificing safety in respect to knock or egt? Are you accounting for IAT?
Lets just make this about me, and 250whp in an 8.8:1 static compression motor, with a gt2860rs and a mega-huge intercooler. I still don't understand how lower IAT makes lower EGT after considering density.
I planned on putting my car at 12.1 at 200whp+ (probably 7psi+)
power, displacement, # of cylinders, and turbine "stage" are the variables I can see.
TXMC: Drinkin, shootin, racin!
I mentioned people saying I was running too rich, and Brice said to let people know that we have plenty of Miata 1.6 and 1.8 pistons and rods in stock. 11.5:1 is the leanest he would run a car that was gonna be running track days at MSR, 1/4mi passes, and driven hard daily.
If anyone doubts Brice's tuning ability, find another Miata running the Greddy setup that is making almost 190whp at 5.5psi. Most I have seen was barely 170whp, and I think they were running a MS.

I don't.
I was dead set on an eddy control dyno...but I keep telling myself to just take it to Brice. Is he throwing fuel at detonation?
Is he still willing to tune MS for me? I forget what you quoted me to just tune spark and fine tune fuel. I'm poor and soon to be unemployed...go easy on me. I'll pay cash.
