How did Mazda lose focus on simpler and lighter? Tweaking the intake sound with extra resonance chambers seems stupid to me.

Guys...feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place, but I'm getting ready to trade in my '01 LS on a new Miata...'08 with PRHT or even the '09, but my question is, is the '09 going to offer enough upgrade over the '08 to make waiting for it worthwhile? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks
