Guys...feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place, but I'm getting ready to trade in my '01 LS on a new Miata...'08 with PRHT or even the '09, but my question is, is the '09 going to offer enough upgrade over the '08 to make waiting for it worthwhile? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks
What if the hokey pokey really IS what it's all about???

Could be a bit of a wait on an '09, we was told the car we wanted would not be available to February... YMMV
What is your reasoning to go with the '09 if you don't mind me asking? Is there anything besides cosmetic upgrades being done?

If you plan on making the car forced induction later, you may want the 09 because it has a forged crank, fully floating pistons, newly designed valve springs and another 500 rpm to redline.
The features I mentioned will be standard with all 09's. I don't know about the availability of yellow other than in the US it will be called Sunflower yellow and not available as a PRHT.
My personal guess is it will be the color for the 20AE.

Floating pistons have free floating connecting pins as opposed to pressed pins. This design allows better wear on the pin and a bit of a higher heat tolerance for higher rpm or FI engines.
Here's info on the 09 just released on autoblog.

Lets hope this isn't a Japan only option.Recaro bucket seats upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara
Last I read it was only for European market. I'd love to have those Recaros with red inserts if they make them.
after 3-days with a FI miata...who could want anything else?

Just buy a CD of a LS1 running hard and play it as you drive. Same thing.

The air induction aural feedback is somewhat explained on the Mazda Japan site. Click here for their site:
http://www.roadster.mazda.co.jp/
and then on the left side under the blue zoom zoom. There are white menu buttons. Go to the sixth one down and click it. Go to the last sub menu button where the film camera is and click it. It will open a video and about half way through it they show an animation about the new induction. I paused it here and it looks like they increase the cold air intake length a bit. It also looks like the added a new tube that comes back toward the cockpit up high where the hood meets the windshield. I don't know if it is also drawing air in there or if it's putting air out to draw it faster from the the front like a venturi. I don't understand Japanese. In any case, the thing's gotta be removed for a Cosworth Supercharger!
BTW there are two more videos on the site on other buttons. Just look for the film camera.
