Thanks... I'll be sure to try that. There is still much to learn about these little cars.... :)

Did it... fans promptly came on and then shut off. I could not get it to replicate. I thought perhaps I blew a fuse. Checked the fuses. Okay. Checked the relay. Okay. I don't get it.

Now as for the ground...argh...it'sgetting late and cold in the garage. My wife is due home any minute now anyhow (2am) so I think I'll stop racking my head.

Hey dude, why worry about the fans or the guages. Leave the dash off as well as the guages. You don't need no stinkin guages. For that matter remove the fans and the radiator. That should shed several pounds

If he were a real Miata pilot he could tell his speed by the hum of the engine.

I could just as easily claim that a real Miata pilot autocrosses his car... but I would still sound as silly.

Well Bean, if you don't have it fixed by the 15th, I'll give you a hand when I get back in town.

We can't have you trying to drive by the hum of the engine

Do you have a copy of the wiring diagram handy? I posted a link to it once upon a time.

I've got the link, thanks. The wiring loom is coming back out... after not being able to find a missing ground... my engineer friend and I are going to go after each and every splice. Should be a couple hours of fun.

Thanks sammmy... I've had that one for awhile... it's been my road map to figure out where I went off course.

And for the record - the car still runs fine. I just don't have a tach or any other gauges (except speedo 'cause everyone knows that it's mechanical).

    UPDATE -

This is where I'm currently at -

I'm using the wiring diagrams to find out where the problem is... a royal pain in the ass

    Edit -
