Default What I've been doing for the last month...

    Working on my photography final.

    Take a look here
    .

Please excuse the water marks but I need to protect my work as this will be going towards my portfolio.

    Here is my artist's statement.

My theme for this project is the seven deadly sins of the Christian faith.

Upon taking this project people immediately remembered the dark film thriller SE7EN starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. The movie portrayed a serial killer whose murder theme was killing people who committed each of the seven deadly sins of Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride.

I decided to look at these sins in a more light-hearted and humorous way. I hope these photos bring a smile to the viewer’s face and encourage all of us to laugh at ourselves.

Thanks. I updated the URL to a slide show link.

Anyone who knows anything about film photography knows how long this took me. I estimate I have at least 100 hours in this project.

Is the course you are taking about artistic merit or technical skills or both? Do you do all your own developing, printing and etc.? I was wondering what type of film you are using. The tonal range is interesting but that could be the digital reproduction. It reminds me of C41 process black and white. Photography is a past passion of mine but I got to caught up in the technical end of it. Probably because I suck as an artist. I wanted to be the new Ansel Adams but my landscapes all looked like landscapes without making you "feel". My teacher called them "travel snapshots" and when I realized she was right I gave it up.

Yes. All of it. Lab washes and dries the fiber paper prints but we press them and matte them.

Ilford FP4 Plus 125 with Ilford MULTIGRADE IV FB Fiber Paper 11x14-in. Shot with a Nikon N80 with the 28-80mm lens.

Could be the digital reproduction. The photos you see were reproduced using my Canon Rebel XTi on an overcast day as opposed to scanning them in. I set the Canon to monochrome to eliminate light color from affecting the photos.

Yep. It was tough for her to not laugh with the neighbor pulling up as we were shooting.

The word "Lust" is a bit hard to see but it is on the phallic looking lava lamp.

Ilford expains alot. Thanks. BTW try a green filter when shooting outdoors and pushing it +2 stops when using Ilford. Interesting effect, looks like the old silver grain process. Ilford has a slightly grainy effect when compared to other films of the same speed, might as well capitalize on it.
