Thread: Clutch problem

    Default Clutch problem

I've noticed recently that my clutch isn't always disengaging fully (on my 92 NA). I usually have to pump it a few times before it gets consistent... after driving a bit it's fine.

Today was the worst. I haven't driven the car in about a month so I went out and started it... I had it in first, pushed in the clutch, and to my surprise the car inched forward like it was still in gear.

I decided that maaaybe it's time to fix this... what would be the problem here? Fluid is full... slave? Master?

Looks like it's time for a trip to Rogue

Slave cylinder. Even you can change that yourself.

    Wanna bet?

Would this also cause the clutch to not engage fully or would it only cause the disengage problems?

Sorry, I've never had a good drivetrain education

Read the link. It would cause disengage problems. If you pull the right-front tire, it is a piece of cake to change. You may even get by by rebuilding it. (Even easier....a spring, a plunger and a rubber boot)

Well.... I'm terrified, and given my previous repair history I'm not convinced that I'll try it... but I'll order a new slave and cross the replacement bridge when I come to it.

Thanks for the tip and the quick reply. I can live with it at least until the part comes in

Sweet, thanks for that! I'm glad I waited to order one.

I really need to get this done soon, now... I sold my Teg today so all I have is the Miata. I hate having only one vehicle. I get nervous
