Update - I just went ahead and installed the new lockset/ignition parts. I used a cutting wheel to remove the old lockset assembly from the steering column. After removal I still could not get the key out of the lockset, so I beat it with a hammer until it fell apart. It appears a small chunk of the original car key broke off in the lockset causing it to stick. The new lockset and keys work great, but now I must use a different key for the doors/trunk than the ignition.

You can get them rekeyed by a locksmith, or if you have the tumblers left from the old key lock you can swap them out to rekey the new one.

Lightness? What's that? I drive a PRHT!
Just leave the door keys on your ignition, and press the new ignition key into a screwdriver handle, like Chris (Machismo...formerly) did.
