Firm seats provide better feedback.
For the most part I really liked the car. It had one of the best transmissions I've ever used. The ride was STIFF. Maybe too stiff for every day. The car shook over bumps. However, my biggest issue with the car was the seats. They felt like wood covered with a single layer of fabric. I drove an 08 Touring PHRT today as well and it had really hard seats too. Why can't they use more comfortable seats?
Anyway, I'm just curious how everyone else likes the seats...
Firm seats provide better feedback.
I never thought of it that way. I felt like I was sitting on top of a seat instead of sitting in the seat. I need something a little softer for daily driver I think. The seats in the s2000 CR felt more comfortable to me, and they were severely bolstered...
Hard Seats??
Maybe a mustang is your best choice.![]()
90-97 cloth seats were much more comfortable and the cars are cheaper, but we've said that before.
I hated the seats in the NC I drove.

I'll have to check an NA.
As far as the mustang being the best choice.... It has terrible seats as well. No bolstering at all. The msm seats were hard and flat and did not hold me in place. So yes, they communicate but I didn't feel like a part of the car.
Cloth NA seats are 100x better than the NB's. Can't comment on NC seats.
I just cut the foam out of mine and now of is much better

Can anyone comment on how the leather seats in the NB are? Just currious if they are less firm than the cloth seats...
Thanks for your help guys. I know it's a minor issue...
They are not less firm. It's just that leather seats are slick so you slide around more. A '94 had the most supportive seats, but any '90-00 are better than '01-08. Just like the newer cars have a softer suspension, the seats are made for "aging" drivers.........

Thanks Merv. I may try to work the miata as a second car angle, and not as my only car. If that's the case, it doesn't matter how stiff the seats are :). WAF - she couldn't take the stiffness of the MSM for it to be my only car.
Have you driven an S2000 if ya want good seats and an awesome shifter it may be one you need to look at!
I have. I went to drive an s2000 CR and fell instantly in love. My wife even loved that car. However, it's pricey and impractical (sigh). We're looking down the road at starting a family and I can't have a two seater as my only car. I've thought about getting a used s2000, but I don't think I would be happy with it after driving the CR. I know the aero bits are goofy looking, but for some reason that car just speaks to me. If I ever get an s2000, it's got to be the CR.
So anyway, I'm considering miatas because they're light and so much fun.
You should really try a standard S2K, my neighbor has one with just a few simple tweaks and it is sweet!
Plus the older S2K's have a very nice price point these days.
