No case needed, it's just a disposable appliance. 2 years and it's gone.

I saw a case with a battery built-in. It charged the iPhone when in the case.

Sorry for the late reply, been off the board a bit. On my iPhone3G, I have the Case-mate thick (1/8") clear acrylic cover. A bit expensive (I got it at the AT&T store, only place I could find it) but worth it. I've dropped it a few times and no probs. I did mod it a little on the opening for the lock/power button with the dremel, but otherwise I really like it. The built in cover makes it a little harder to use the interface, but not much. I have the Griffin thick clear acylic for my iPod Touch. My former neighbor rides crotch rockets, he was going down GB at his usual 85+ when his Touch with the same Griffin case fell out of his pocket and hit the pavement, he turned and watched it get run over by the car behind him. He turned around, went back and found it. The case was totally trashed, but no harm to the iPod.
