Nevermind. I thought you meant Internet Explorer....
Good luck. I just had to restore my HP a few months ago because I got a nasty virus.
Well my trusty dell is kindof on the fritz. If I reboot in safe mode then I can run all the programs and use the windows key and E to begin explorer. But if I restart in normal mode I can run some programs but not others. If I use the windows+E it locks it up. Also if I open explorer with a shortcut I can navigate around, but if I try to right click ANYTHING it locks up.
I did run Mcafee and it did not find any virus's.
Any ideas? I don't want to reload windows but I think I need to.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...
I literaly don't get it. Over the last 8 years I have had anywhere from 3 to 8 PC's at my house. For almost 2 of those years at least 3 PC's did not have a firewall nor AV software installed. Yet over those 8 years, I have only had a couple pieces of adware and one bug that I didn't bother to clean (it was a WMI issue) as I was already planning to rebuild that PC anyway. But I hear that people seem to get nearly a bug a day. So what gives? (And no, I am not an internet angel)
As for your problem Ataim. It sounds like you are running XP (hence the "trusty"), I suspect that IE may infact be hijacked. The major difference between Explorer and IE is the tool bar set. So if IE is fouled up it can be causing issues in Explorer. Try running SuperAntispyware or Malwarebytes. These are what I typically use at work to get rid of the nasties. Might have to run them in Safe mode w/ networking (so they can update)

If it's not too painful, wipe it out and start over. I did that with our home PC last month.
Try cleaning it first with a program like adaware (spyware detection) Unfortunately McAfee doesn't really do well with malware.
If still unable to fix, then backup data, wipe and re-install.
