Remember you need an SA helmet. I doubt anyone is gonna loan you one of those....
I don't make any of those Wed nite events, so if you want to try mine I can bring it to work and we can meet one day at lunch.

I just got through flying around Laguna Seca on Google Earth. Now I'm jealous.

Aha, I know right? Laguna is gonna be awesome. I just wish that it wasn't be my first track time so that I could make the most of it and not have to learn everything.

Get out your old PS1 and your GT2 game and gets lots of "simulator" time.

I've been on laguna seca in a miata in Forza Motorsport 2 (the Xbox 360s gran turismo FYI) for probably 80 laps in the past couple of days since I knew I would be able to make it to laguna. Right now I'm just trying to completely understand every intricacy of the track I can. Then I will try to match the shift points and revlimiter on the in game miata to my miata and then will be able to know what turn and approximately what revs I will be expecting for each turn. I've also been watching lots of videos of spec miata and other NA miatas on laguna and studying their lines. Other than that the only thing I can think of that I can do to prepare is once I get my Flex's in I need to try and learn as much about how my car will handle at and near the limits of adhesion as I can safely before the track day. All advice is welcome if anyone has any other suggestions.

Fo Sho, I think I told you I got chills thinking about the corkscrew when I realized in the middle of the night a while back that I could afford to go.

I think this should be settled by a fight to the death, and I will buy the winners helmet.
No but seriously I appreciate all you guys offering helmets and I will take a look at all of them on Wednesday, but at this point I am leaning towards borrowing one as opposed to buying if I can for this event because I think if I buy one it should be the most up to date rating I can afford. If I can't borrow one that will work then I will be looking to buy one which ever one meets my criteria the best.
My criteria in order of importance to me are: meets the Laguna Seca requirements, fits me comfortably, is the most up to date rating wise, allows maximum peripheral vision, is affordable, and lastly me liking it.

You can play any of the video games of Laguna Seca and watch all the videos, but you will never be prepared for the first time the earth drops out from under you in the corkscrew!!!!!!! I can't believe you're gonna drive the whole way to CA for your first track event. We've got some really nice tracks right here in north Texas that would be much better to learn on.

Not necessarily: http://www.smileysracing.com/cat/vie...9cc6&pgID=1682
and that's a local supplier in Mesquite. IMO the open face is a better choice in an airbag equipped car but they have a full face for the same price.
