Heh. I took my Dad out autocrossing last fall, and he turned 72 last week. Should I expect the same news?
Miatas are addictive in only one exposure and do not discriminate against age and I have proof.
I took my 73 year old father for a 10 minute ride last Christmas and he called me yesterday to let me know he had bought a 92 Miata and sold his Buick Regal. He says he has to let the top down to get in or out and is as "happy as a pig in shit".
Signs and wonders.....signs and wonders.

I think it's great. He most likely always wanted to drive a sports car but got caught up life. Buick to a Miata is a mine altering event! Now get him to drive it a spped.

My mom just turned eighty-four last week. She fell in love riding in mine, probably fifteen years ago, and had always looked at them. In 2002, I bought her one and surprised her with it in PA, along with twenty-six other Miatas from clubs in the PA,NJ,DE,MD area. It was wonderful! She drove it until the end of 2007, when she decided her eyesight was getting too bad to drive. She still misses it.

My father-n-law got "Baby" when he was 80.
The last thing he said to me before he passed was "Take care of Baby"
Its now Barbara's "Baby" and its doing a better job of taking care of her. (Miata vs Semi)
I hope Barbara is still driving "Baby' when she is 80.
Dad, Sharpie and I went on Dad's 1st run, to Meunster, seems like yesterday.
Update on "Dad's" 92. So far I have replaced the timing belt, water pump, cam seals, valve cover gasket, CPS O ring, guage hood, steering column panel and belts. I still have to do the brake pads, booster and probably the top. He better leave me thething in his will or maybe I'll get lucky and someone will steal it. Of course I have to chase him down on the test drive required after every part is replaced. He seems to be having the time of his life and drives pretty fast for a stroke victim. He says he saw another Miata with a chrome style bar and now he has to have one. He says it looked "bitchin". What ya gonna do?
