I think it's been brought up before, but its expensive.
The parking lots there have got to be virtually empty... I wonder if Jerry wanted to earn a bit of $$ by letting us use his parking lots :o)

Hmm... and what's this over by the fairgrounds?

"Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will lease the Texas Stadium site for $15.4 million and will occupy it as a construction/staging location for up to 10 years. TxDOT will be working on the Diamond Interchange reconstruction project of State Highway 114 and Loop 12."
Anyone know if they get all the parking lots?
The fairgrounds lot (and the one across the street) are huge. There are some light poles, but not as many as LaGrave.
I wonder if they're for rent :o)
Although the fairgrounds area is pretty nasty...
I think some car manufacturers (Lexus/Mercedes) have rented it before to do some test drive events. Their pockets are slightly deeper than ours I imagine. (except Ken O)

Has anyone ever approached the Carrollton/Farmers branch school district about the Standrige Stadium Parking lot? If you search for Standrige Stadium, Farmers Branch, TX in google maps you can see it.
That's a pretty good size lot. In high school whenever it froze over we used to go do donuts in the lot.

Not sure who originally put this together it is a bit dated but it gives you a good idea of the size of some of our local venues. Sadly some of these venues are no longer availble......
TMS West lot looks yummy :)
I'm sure they want lots to use it.
The TMS West Lot was a great venue. The Fort Worth National Tour was held there in the late '90s and early '00s. Unfortunately, the asphalt didn't stand up too well to R comps, iirc.
Maverick PCA used to use Standridge. Not sure why they stopped.

and SCCA ran the small remnant of Great Southwest Airport a couple of times (shown in the maps above in this thread), the small map just north of 183
was hard to get, dealing with DFW airport (I did the dealing)
and they often "forgot" to unlock the gate, so an event would be delayed a long time
not enough room really for a decent paddock and course
and if you went off the pavement you disappeared
and it was a tire eater

and last post on venues (sorry for several rather than one), SCCA ran several Divisional events at Cowboys stadium
and the old CMC (pre-Grassroots Motorsports magazine attempt at a series, AutoX magazine) ran one of their big deal events there too
they restricted us to the bus lot (depth of asphalt) and it was wierd shaped and off camber and not too much paddock, when 80 cars was a huge turnout
and super expensive in about 1990
