    I think a cheapo Haines manual is a good idea if you are not Rogue and doesn't take up much room.

    panty hose? how does that work? they don't seem strong enough to hold up.

    Wrap them around the pullies and tie them off. They only have to last long enough to get you to a parts store. You would not want to run the AC or Powersteering off of them. But they will run the alternator long enough.
