Thread: Windshield washer nozzles

    Default Windshield washer nozzles

So, I got tired of my washer nozzles. The standard NA nozzles are of the POS thin-stream variety - they don't provide good coverage and they're a PITA to adjust. Even worse, the rubber grommet under one of mine had gone south, so it was more or less flopping around in the hole - making it impossible to adjust. On top of that, they both looked ratty.

Solution? Going off a tip from M.net, I picked up a pair of Mazda Tribute nozzles from Town North today. From what I understand, they're of the fluidic variety. The Tribute nozzles are a perfect fit (for an NA or NB), and they work a LOT better than the old ones - with a fan spray pattern rather than the piddly weak pee streams.

P/N EC01-67-50YA - and each nozzle comes with the rubber grommet. When I asked about color, I was told they only come in black.

$19.42 for a pair, with tax. If I had been thinking, I would've asked for a Track Dog discount or some such, but for less than $20 I'm not going to quibble.

The only problem is that the aim in a little high. You have keep the car rolling a little to get it aim down just enough to get the middle of the glass. Just like adjusting your aim as you pee!

They do shoot a little high when you're stopped, but once you're moving just a little bit, they're perfect.

    Also, sadly, no LEDs...

I did this a few years ago. They do work great. At the time there was a guy selling them on eBay. I think I got my for about $10.

That's not the issue here. They still just squirt like a fountain's little cherub pissers. It's the equivalent of having an adjustable spray garden nozzle set on jet with low pressure and fan with good pressure.

Exactly, it's like two 90-year-old dudes with prostate trouble having a sword fight at the urinal... it's weak, not pretty, and it doesn't do anybody any good.

    Wiper jets? Who needs 'em!

I just ran my hose through the firewall and into the back of my glovebox where I keep a couple of shot glasses. Instead of washer fluid I filled it with Tequilla!

Hey trickyrix how do you get the OEM washer nozzles off the car? Is it possible to get them off the car without breaking them??

I'd like to pull mine so I can polish the hood without them in my way!

    TIA

They snap in with springy clips on the front and back of the nozzle. I pushed mine forward until the back popped up, then worked it back and forth until the other clip released. About the time you're ready to take a hammer to it, it'll pop out. They're stuck in there pretty good...
