    Talking n00b here, want a co-driver?

Hello all. I'm new to the forum, introduced by way of our friend jrj512, Jerrett "Jimmy" Jan. He and I have worked at the same place for many years, and he's gotten me very interested in autocrossing. I've done 3 events in my slightly modded '04 Saturn Vue Red Line (no, I don't always come in last either!), and most recently in JJ's '93 Miata. Well, I want to take my participation to the next level, and after driving his car, I've decided I need a track car that won't break the bank, so I'm looking for a car to drive (damn you Craigslist!). Based on recommendations, I'm mostly interested in a first-gen MX-5 with the 1.8L and of course a stick.

I'm eager to learn and get seat time, so if anyone is up for a co-driver at upcoming events, let me know! Hopefully by this fall I'll have my own car and my poor Vue won't have to suffer any more autoX abuse (but I think she likes it, to be honest).

You mean being JJ's coworker doesn't automatically make me cool by association? Damnit!

Thanks for the welcome guys. If all goes as planned, I'll be co-driving Brad's '93 at Pennington on Sunday woohoo!

Where should I lurk for trying to find a good buy on a 1.8L NA? Aside from CraigsList and eBay motors that is....

Oh, I know how you guys are. I like it that way. We're like that at work too. Here's something my QA guy and I throw back and forth at each other a lot...

    Code:
                          /´¯/)
                        ,/¯ /
                       / /
                 /´¯/' '/´¯¯`·¸
              /'/ / / /¨¯\
            ('( ´ ´ ¯~/' ')
             \ ' /
             '' \ _ ·´
                 \ (
                  \ \
But maybe that's just being juvenile. Either way, if your friends can't give you a hard time, then you're a wanker.
