There is a specific tool you need to disco the fuel filter. Gas will run down in to your arm pit no matter what.
Could someone please tell me how to depressurize the fuel lines on a ‘NB? I attempted this a few months ago from advice from miata.net but the instructions were for a car other than a NB I learned later. Those instructions said to unplug “the yellow thingy” from under the dash instead of disconnecting the battery and let the car run dry and to pinch of the lines with locking pliers. First the car never ran dry after I unplugged “the yellow thingy”. Second the fuel lines on a NB are solid not rubber hose and you can’t pinch them without damaging them. I ended up shooting fuel across the driveway and all over myself when I tried to just swap the filter quickly.
I plan on doing this later today after I do my brakes and fluid change. So, any advice today will be very helpful. Thanks

yep, but can only get NAPA which is not open after 5 or on weekends. All the other auto part stores in town only seem to have gummybears, sodapop, or Hotwheels, but no auto parts or tools.
I can get them off with needle pliers but I want to depressurize the lines first to minimize the velocity and distance before I shove the golf tees in.

IIRC you need to pull the fuel pump relay and then crank the car.
