    Default opinion on rear sway bar setting

    I am just curious if anyone has tinkered with the RB rear swaybar on their NB. I have the tubular front bar and the solid rear. The rear has 2 holes and RB suggests that the outer hole will make the NB "tail happy" and use that as initial setting. So I used the inner hole just because "tail happy" made me think of a gay porno and I all ready get teased because I drive the Miata now instead of the Ram 3500 TD. I like the way it handles the country curves but I really don't know any better. I am thinking about changing the setting for MSR but I am hesitant to make a change right before my first time on a track. Any opinion is appreciated. Thanks.

    I think you have that reversed. The inner hole should cause greater twist for a given amount of deflection and make the car have a greater tendency to oversteer (tail happy). If the car is not oversteering now when pushed hard you should be OK.

    call me a *#$*( cone basher, but you'll likely have more fun, less stress and generally have a better time at MSR if you remove an endlink from the rear sway - disconnect it.

    Yes, if you overcook it going in to a turn, you'll push a bit, but that's a lot less distressing than spinning into the grass. ONCE you've done a few sessions and are starting to feel the limits, you'll probably benefit from reconnecting the bar in its softest setting - but I prefer the factory, non-sport bar.

    You'll get plenty of other opinions on this matter...

    Outer setting on the rear bar is preferred. You might want to consider a more aggessive alignment as well. Tire pressure will make a big differnece in the handling. If you have any questions before or at the track please don't hesitate to call or find me at the track.

    Went ahead and made the change. Took a quick test along the farm road the is all quick curves and sweepers with lots of elevation. Made it along between 90 - 100. What a difference! Before I was muscling it threw the same curves. I am amazed what a big difference a little adjustment does.

    Yes I am a proponent of the stock rear bar / no rear bar when appropriate setting.
