I think the floorpan is the same and the seats are interchangeable.
I think...
Will seats from pre 99 fit into an 03? Anything special about the rails?

If you are going to buy some to recover, I have a set of black cloth NA seats that I think came off a 94 for $100
05 MX-5 Mazdaspeed #1024 Titanium Gray Mica
I don't think they are as comfortable as those 95m seats and the look of Trickyrix's gave me a woody.

What would be your preference for recovering with leather like Tricky?
95M seats or 2000 cloth seats

Aren't the '99-00 seats supposed to be garbage? From what I've read, the '01+ NB seats are much better.
Of course, that's just all hearsay from me... I'm sure somebody with actual experience can chime in.

Before you pay for some frames, I have the old leather seats out of my 94 taking up room in my garage. I know you like the 95M seats better, but you can have these if you wanted them, I need to get them out of here.
The leather is trashed but you are reskinning them anyway.

Thanks for the offers and advice. Suzan has not been comfortable in the car since I installed those Roadsters for daily driving and since I got them out I want to make it all better. I'm going to look at the 95's this afternoon.

All NA/NB seats should bolt directly in to any '90-'05 chassis. The seat mounting holes did not change locations from '90-'05. The only thing to be careful of is that the earliest NA seats had a female seatbelt end that mounted to the transmission tunnel - this was relocated to the right side of the seat in '94 (iirc) and stayed there through '05.
I had NA seats in my '99 Sport for awhile. They were a lot more comfortable than the stock '99-'00 seats, and they bolted right in. In my personal opinion early NA seats (longer thigh cushion) > later NA seats > 01+ seats > '99-'00 seats (which sucked). None of them are as comfy as the seats in the RX-8 though.

From my perspective, the '95M seats are a lot more comfy than the standard '94 seats. They sit a little lower and the bottom cushion seems more supportive. If I'm not mistaken, later NAs ('96-97) shared the '95M bottom cushion, but kept the old-style one-piece backs - at least it looks that way to me.
New covers will make a surprisingly big difference in the way the seats feel. The new leather is quality stuff and actually grips your butt - unlike the shiny painted crap that covers the stock seats. Also, there's a thin layer of padding on the backside of the new leathers that makes the seats feel nice and cushy, but they remain firm and supportive underneath.

My thanks to Rogue for parting with his 95M seats.
Placed the order a few minutes ago for the seat covers. Black gathered with silver as the contrasting stitch. Now the wait begins....
