aspect ratio (height)
You should go wider if you're going shorter to keep the same diameter. Probably a 225/40.
So....someone decided to knife one of my tires.
I figured it would be a good excuse to replace them all with some Azenis.
Right now I have 17x7.5 rims and 205/45/17's on there.
So I am wondering if 205/40/17's would fit as Azenis dont come in the size I am currently running.
also what is the 45 # for width? or height?
Thanks for the help. :)

205 is the tire width in milimeters (mm). 45 is the sidewall height as a PRECENTAGE of the tread width. So the sidewall height of that tire would be 92.25mm (9.225cm or 3.64in.). This give you an overall tire height of 24.28 inches.
The 40 would result in a smaller diameter tire that would slightly lower your gearing (higher numerically) and technically would improve acceleration. Your speedometer would also read fast compared to what it is now. To campare to the above the 40 would give you a sidewall height of 82mm (3.2in.). This will give you an overall tire height of 23.46 inches.
Tire one has a circumference of: 76.27 inches
Tire two has a circumference of: 73.74 inches
This is a difference of about 3.3%
This means your speedometer would be about 3% fast and your gearing would be about 3% lower then it is now. At 50MPH that would be 1.5MPH difference.
looks like I have a choice of.....
215/40
235/40
or
215/45
225/45
what would you choose for the 17x7.5 rim?

The discount tire website info center page has a massive amount of tire info at http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoHome.do
It even includes a tire Calculator http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos where you can put in a tire size and get all kinds of info or two different tire sizes and it will tell you all the differences.

Any reason for wanting Azenis? There are much better choices out there these days if you're looking for performance tires.
what would you suggest, i actually wanted some TR1's but either couldnt find them for sale anywhere.
The price I found on the Azenis was 98.00 each...which i thought was pretty good for a performance tire.
But if you guys have some suggestions that arent 150.00 per tire or more I would certainly be interested in hearing them.

Im in the market for tires as well and I found this is priceless for narrowing tire choices.

Looks like 215/45/17 is close and priced at 113.00 per tire
anyone have a good source to buy these or another suggested performance tire on the cheap?
I dont mind waiting for them to get to me as long as it's not a backorder item
I am interested in what you guys are running....since ditching the Azenis.
I will probably place an order in a day or two.
p.s. I just put my truck in the shop to have th motor rebuilt.....lol, thats the way it goes eh?
