Beautiful hardware Trey! I hope this all works out. I'll see you at Hallett.

This was the reason I didn't pull the trigger sooner. He gave me a price over the phone within lets say 10% of the final...and it came in under-budget.

edit: I had the standard BEGi S3. The kit was great on the street and the studs were the only part that failed. However, with no remedy in sight, and the reality that I'd have to pull the manifold and turbo off every other weekend or so, I had no choice but to make the switch to v-bands. Everyone still tells me that I've wasted my money, the car is a mistake, its over-the-top...but I don't care as long as these parts work. If they don't this green turbo car will be my ultra-nice daily with the old turbo parts, and my ugly car will get transformed into a naturally aspirated racecar.

No, no...and maybe (not a thing wrong with being over-the-top). Very nice goodies you've got, there! I look forward to reading about your successes on-track.
Sticking with the same size turbo?

same turbo, same turbine housing too...the one that everyone thinks is too big. The same one that makes wacko torque.

Thanks. This is not my first trip down "car mod financial failure," so I budgeted for this 2-years ago. I hope to get in the car and smile again soon because it hasn't been much fun lately.

I hope to get a check-ride, maybe the necessary license, and compete in the street class at the NASA TT at ECR if I can still get in.

Wish all the electronics and general turbo experience was around back in the day when I was young, didn't have a 401K, kids, wife, etc and was throwing money at my Datsun with its Rajay turbo, Impco valve to control boost and water injection......

yeah, 401k is my other hobby. I'm not spending any more money on cars after this. I justified the money by looking at my daily driver.

there isn't a street class in nasa tt. you gotta contact greg greenbaum, send an email with description of your car, comp. weight (weight of your car with you in it.) and dyno proven horsepower. if you run high boost your gonna be classed waayyy to high and your gonna get eaten up. i'm running TTB class with my car @230whp. once he gives you a base class you have to add points for all your suspension, aero, chassis, mods., and tire/wheels combo. that could move you up another class or 2 or more. but if you just wanna run in the tt group for fun, none of that really matters. i should be there too. hopefully.

I may just run HPDE to keep it fun, and not competitive enough to put me in a bad mood when some $200k car with a crew to roll it off the 18-wheeler murders me in the streets. However, right now I'm a little more worried about making it through a session without a mechanical failure. If I make it through 2-days at Hallett, I'll be amazed.

a little wire wheel action on my manifold:

I need to get some vodka to rub on this hurr.

I haven't driven the car yet, but I highly recommend the welding skills of Abe/ARtech in Wylie. He's affordable, welds are beautiful, and everything is bolting up.

That hardware looks damn fine! No more loosening studs or nuts on that engine!

How much of a difference did you see with the addition of the COPs?

I'm not really sure. It idled better, reved faster and heel-toe, and recovers better in traffic. I also went from .020 plug gap to .055", lol.

Now I just have to bolt up the brake duct shrouds, check for leaks again, and drive to hallett.

Well, as everyone here already knows because I was giddy like a kindergartner...the ABSURDflow kit works, and works flawlessly. I never had to touch it and ran the car hard for 2 days-worth of seat time. I'm amazed. Now the brakes...that's another story. Time for multi-piston calipers.
