Thread: FS: Tokico Illuminas

    Default FS: Tokico Illuminas

Up for grabs is a set of 4 tokico illuminas.

I purchased these from a member on the board around a month ago. I decided to give the ebay coilovers a shot, and didn't like them. I then thought about doing GC's, but found out that a set I wanted to buy were spec'd for KYB AGX's and that illumina GC's were different.

The price for new GC's and tophats plus the illuminas was going to end up being more than a tein basic or H&R coilover kit.

SO, as you may have seen, I opted to go with the H&R coilover kit.

The 2 front illuminas were installed, and have about 20-30 miles on them. The rear illuminas remain uninstalled.

I purchased the shocks for $340 and the egay coilovers for $40.

I'd like to get $350 for the whole shebang.

Springs are around 270-300lb/in, and of course has the coilover sleeves w/ adjusters. You could toss them in if you want as is (the ride was better, but the car sat at or slightly above stock height on the lowest setting), or you could purchase some different springs and throw them on the sleeves and have a cheap coilover setup.

    I'll add pics later tonight.

    Yes they are.

The illuminas are great, but the coilover springs are too long. I only installed the fronts, and the ride was smooth and good, but the car, at the lowest setting, was higher than stock. You can even see in that pic, I took them back out, took off the adjusting collar, and just put the spring alone and it was still too high.

So then I saw those coilovers that blackroadster was selling (the GC's) and I thought about doing those. Then I read into it, and found out that there are different versions of the GCs for KYB & Tokico, and basically puting the KYB GC's on the Illuminas would result in a car that sits higher than factory (back to square one).

So then I thought about new GC's...which are around $400. I'd still want NB top hats for more travel, so with the price of shocks, GC's, and top hats I was already over the price of just getting the tein basics or H&R coilovers.

Alternatively, I thought about purchasing all new springs from summitracing, but that would be an additional ~$160 plus I didn't know if I should get 6" or 5" and didn't know whateffect it would have on ride height in the end.

I was really impressed with the H&R's on Brett's car, and decided why bother with the headache, and I already saw the results first hand with that setup....so I said screw it, I'll just do the H&R's.

I figured I could turn around and sell the illuminas and atleast get that money back.

It was firmer than stock thats for sure, but didn't jostle me around insanely or anything like that...

I'll sell the coilovers and shocks together or separate...it doesnt really matter to me...

You say the coilovers are intended for AGX? If so, I'd be interested in just them.

PM replied. They're just the ebay coilovers which don't say if they are intended to fit AGX or Tokico...modification needed to fit properly.
