I'm guessing he neglected to pack his curse when he moved to NC... Cara must have stumbled upon it...

Cara stayed home today from work. She's sore but I think she'll be ok. She is waiting to hear from the adjuster and is enjoying time with Jadyn.
Yea it happened on my birthday but we can celebrate it later when she's recovered. I'm just glad she's ok.

I bet that frame rail has a kink in it. Have you guys looked under the car or under the mat in the trunk?

Sorry to hear about your accident, been there recently myself and the car is still getting repaired. I hope you have a speedy recovery with no long-term issues. I got lucky and saw the car approaching and got my head up against the headrest just prior to impact. I think that saved me a lot of pain.

BTW, I'm putting racing stripes on my car, hopefully they will "POP" enough to get other drivers attention.

I was just rear ended a couple of months ago, and I was stopped in traffic as well, and saw the car coming as Duane did. I never thought to check my frame rails though, as I had my foot off the brake and absorbed damage in front and rear.

But maybe I will now. Did you actually get whiplash or is it just sore?

I cannot remember if I had my foot on the brake or not - since traffic was stop and go. He hit me pretty hard, but I didnt smash into the car in front of me - other than a light tap.

The trunk lid is buckled and locked and the key mechanism was pushed into the trunk so can't open the truck.

How do you know if you have whiplash or are just sore? The most painful part was slamming my head against the headrest.

IIRC actual whiplash requires physical therapy, etc. When I was hit I don't even recall hitting the headrest, my head hit the frame of the top for some reason.

OUCH! It was painful enough to slam against a hard headrest, can only imagine the stars you saw hitting the frame!

I was surprised to find out that the guy that hit me was issued a citation, but no idea what it was for. Regardless, until he talks to his insurance company to verify the claim, I can't do anything - unless of course I file the claim under my insurance. I am tempted to do just that, except I have a $500 deductible AND if my insurance company doesn't get their money back, my rates will go up (according to the claims adjuster for my insurance company).

I did verify that he works in the kitchen at the soon to open Twin Peaks in McKinney - he wenged on about giving us free food for life, but I just want my car fixed.

File under your insurace, pay the deductable. Let your insurance go after them. That's why you pay them. Otherwise you could be strung along by the other insurance. Your insurance will reimburse your deductable once they get the other company to pay up.

I have had several friends that were strung along by the other parties insurance for weeks before repairs were even started.

I rear-ended a woman in a VW when I was 16. I was given a ticket for "following too close", and the officer told me that they always give that ticket when you rear-end someone.

Definitily file it on your insurance. They will do all the work for you, better and much faster......

Thank you for the feedback/advice. I am going through my insurance company. Talked to his company today and they said it could drag out more than 30 days. My car will be towed to Dallas Roadster today and I'll be in a rental this afternoon.

Hmm... if you can avoid using your own insurance company, do. Talk to your agent, but avoid your own insurance if you can.

My parked car was totaled 2 and a half years ago, and i was t-boned 2 years ago. Neither accident was my fault. I was not charged points in either accident. To go even further in 10 years, I haven't been at fault in an accident. However, when I went to write a new policy this last time around, the "no accidents" quote isn't what i got. The 2 not at fault incidents count against me to the tune of about $300 every 6 months. I was quoted $625 paid in full for 6 months with progresive for a 100/300/100 policy with $500 deductibles. Went to pay and it was $925. The difference? The not at fault accidents.... After finding myself a new independent insurance agent he laid out the picture for me-- you don't get penalized per-say for not fault accidents, but you get discounts for being accident free. If I hadn't reported those accidents to my own insurance company, they wouldn't be on MY record, and I'd be much better off. His advice was to contact your agent, and try deal with the other insurance without bringing your own insurance into it.

I'm still pissed. Because other people can't drive worth a shit- red means stop, and a parked car is not a bump stop-- I just got to spend my suspension money on insurance... ARGHHHH

I don't think ( I may be wrong here) that her insurance rates would go up.
I think, however, that any quotes from a new insurer in the future would be high because they look at the past filings as "incidences" without regard to details of who was at fault. So it could be a problem should she switch insurance companies.

Exactly. Use that towing coverage and get an "incident" on your record. Locked out? Calling the locksmith gets you another "incident" on your record. When it came time to give Allstate the heave ho last year, I discovered that my girls apparently lock their keys in the car quite frequently and Allstate records each and every call.

Yeah. thing is progressive was dinging me for the "incidents" too.

I'm none too pleased with insurance right now. It's all a racket. Take our money willingly, and begrudgingly pay out when it is their duty.

Okay so both cars are now in the "shop" - they are completely replacing the trunk - estimated cost is around $3500 for my car. Haven't heard anything about the Altima.

I miss my car - this Impala is tooooo big - I am not used to driving a BIG car.
