Thread: Seat Options

    Default Seat Options

I'm looking at a few option for replacing my extremely worn out driver's side seat. Number one route is to find a decent set out of an NB Miata to drop in from a junk yard but I haven't had any luck so far (haven't been trying too hard either).

My next option is to buy aftermarket seats but I'm not sure what would be comfy and adjustable yet within a budget price range. Haven't found many Miata parts sites that sell aftermarket seats either.

Next is to have the seat re-upholstered. That may be out of my price range but I have yet to do any real price checking yet.

And my final option and probably the cheapest if it's even possible is to simply swap the drivers and passenger's seat around as the passenger seat is still in real good shape. Looks like it has never really carried many passengers. I carry passengers but not that often and I could extend the time out to get/find another seat.

If ya'll can give me some ideas that would be great.

One thing that any seat I get has to have is it has to be comftrable. Like OEM type comfort at the very least. I plan to not only auto-x this car but also take trips to places like the hill country, ozarks ect.

The driver seat is beyond just replace the cloth. The foam is flat or missing out of most of the left side of the seat. It either needs a complete rebuild or replacement.

Damn you and your temptation :p lol

I've thought about it and I've decided to hold on to my NA and use it as a project car. Both of those cars are very nice and I would love to have either one of them but one I would have to dump the Miata I have now to get one of them. Two I'm kinda looking forward to the work I'll be doing to mine.

One thing is the paint on mine is in OK but not great shape like the cars you posted but that will be a future project within this project lol.

Not sure about your feelings on the subject, but I tend to prefer the NA seats over those in the NB. A little foam removal and they'll actually hold you in place very nicely!

Swapping the seats side-to-side might be an option. However, if you ever feel like changing the angle of incline on the seatback, you might be a bit tight on space trying to move the lever on the side. Perhaps just swapping out a few choice parts rather than entire seats might be better.

TDR had several sets of seats hanging around last time I dropped by. You might give them a call on Monday to see what's available.
