    Default Detecting year model

    I just noticed something yetsreday theat confused me, I have already sent my title out to be changed into my name....but I am almost 100% positive it said 1999 model.
    So I am looking in the door jam yesterday at the production stcker and it says 1298 is there another way I dont know of to verify the year model?

    I wouldn't be so concerned about it cept that I have noticed almost all the upgrades I am looking at have a cutoff date between 1998 and 1999.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    There was not a 1998 model Miata in the US, but the early 1999 models were built in 1998.

    Models go like this (I think!?) -

    NA 1.6 116hp/100ft-lb 1989-1993
    NA 1.8 128hp/110ft-lb 1994-1997
    NO 1998 MODEL PRODUCED
    NB 1.8 136hp/114ft-lb 1999-current...

    The 8th digit counting back from the right in the VIN is the year code.

    M = 1991
    N = 1992
    P = 1993
    R = 1994
    S = 1995
    T = 1996
    V = 1997
    W = 1998
    X = 1999
    Y = 2000
    1-9 = 2001-2009
    It starts over at A in 2010
