I have an RB header and I put heat tape on the alternator itself. So far so good with two track days under the belt. I have the outermost stock heat shield on top. The inner two-piece shield was discarded.

You will need a heat shield of some kind unless you want to have to replace that alternator prematurely or enjoy a very toasty cabin. Gary's heat shield is very effective in cutting down that heat. I know because I have them on my NBs.

I just put a ton of heat tape on mine...but when I get a little more time and money I would like to run a heat sheild just to keep the engine temps a little lower.

That must be why I'm not getting mine back today.

DOH! I'm sorry. We had originally talked about getting mine back before Christmas, so I could drive to OKC. So I'm a week behind....but things worked out ok considering the weather (and the buddy I'm loaning my 4Runner to borrowed another friends car while she was out of town for Christmas.)

I'll be sure to say "Howdy". Which NB is yours?...EDIT: NVM...just checked your avatar. How long has it been @ TDR?

Oh...no worries. Gary knows I'm in no hurry. It's just at that point where it's so close to being done I can almost taste it.

Mines the black one that may or may not be stuck on Gary's lift b/c it's too low.

It actually looks a little different than the avatar now. It's been over there 4 weeks or so.

Whatever it is, she sure looks nice. I realized yours is the one I've been drooling over. Drooled over her some more tonight. Very nice.

More boost (going from ~10.5 to 12 psi)*, headers (I was on the stock '99 manifold !_! ) and an e-Manage Ultimate. I had a JR Power Card and Boost Timing Control "knob". The e-Manage should give more area under the curve and the boost will raise the whole curve a bit. :) We'll see by how much on the 16th.

*EDIT: The 350cc injectors are maxed out at 10psi, according to the EMU. Gonna need to go to bigger injectors for more boost. That'll be some time in the spring.

Thanks! I can't wait to get it back so I can do the same again.

If the EManage is a full stand alone have fun getting that thing inspected.

    a) It's not.

    b) Even if it was - I wouldn't have any trouble getting a sticker. I've had plenty of cars that should have failed inspection but didn't. Fortunately, the Miata should still pass on the up-and-up.
