    Default Giving Thanks

What are you thankful for this year? I heard this question on the radio yesterday, and it always reminds me of all I have. Even in these times, we are all blessed.

You probably know the story of the Pilgrims, but President Lincoln made the last Thursday in November the official day. His proclamation can be found on Wikipedia at Thanksgiving U.S. . Here is part of the article:

In the middle of the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln, prompted by a series of editorials written by Sarah Josepha Hale,[10] proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day, to be celebrated on the final Thursday in November 1863:
“ The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.

For what are you thankful this year?

I'm going to go with "I'm thankful I'm able to whine about it hurting to walk."

I'm also thankful that there is a very special infraction in the dfwmiata.com forums that applies so perfectly to Todd. It makes me all happy and warm every time I find it.

No... I am just trying to figure out where the meet is at? Are we all invited to Hal's for turkey?

And I am thankful for my wonderful wife and daughter, a good job, and great friends!

Whew! I was afraid we were disagreeing and that would make me wrong in your opinion.

Many things, but I'll start with 4 grandkids and the good health to enjoy them.

Even though I have had some difficult times this year I also have much to be thankful for.

    I'm thankful for:

    A healthy, happy family
    A loving beautiful wife
A daughter that can turn a bad day in to a great day instantly.
Two sons that make me proud as they develop into good men.
Friends that go above and beyond to help me out.
A job that provides security and great health benefits to my family.
Another job that I actually enjoy.
New beginings in our future through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.
Not being "normal". My wife and I march to the beat of a different drum.
    ...and across the line.

Most thankful for a successful surgery for yesterday. Also thankful for the ability to research and gain so much information from the internet, which led us to a second, and then a third opinion before deciding on the best course of action. Years ago in the old days, we would have just gone along with the initial diagnosis and accepted what was prescribed. The mass which the first doctor had labeled as possibly being the big 'C' turned out to be benign, and I am on my knees thankful for that.

I'm thankful that our completely devastating last year has turned around for the good with a little one in the oven, and this time around he is 100% healthy. Its a boy by the way. Just got the 'everythings ok' from the fetal specialist yestereday so were very happy.

(Without going into too many details, we had a very troubled pregnancy last year and lost our son on thanksgiving to extreme prematurity among other things at 26 weeks. So you can imagine how happy we are this time around to be healthy.)

And what can I say, thankful for this place!

I am thankful for many things this morning. First that all my sins are forgiven by a loving God who blesses me in ways I can't imagine. Second that I live in a country where I can say that. Third that I can say dumb things on a forum like this and not make anyone mad

    +1 Hal!

I'm also thankful for the safe return of my niece who went from the oven (Iraq) to the freezer (Alaska)... and for the safety of my niece, her kids, and my wife's cousins who were down in Ft. Hood.

I am thankful for my family even though we are apart today (we will be together tomorrow).

I am also thankful that I have not had any major repairs on my Miata in the last 7 months and that none of you guys bought it before me!

    OOOOOOOF....

It was SOOOO hard to move after all that food! Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, dumplings (MY FAVE!!!), candied sweet potatoes, rolls, fresh veggies w/ranch dip, pumpkin pie, and peach cobbler with plenty of tea (Decaf!) to wash it down.

Mom outdid herself this year and I came home with 5 TV dinners to put in the freezer for later and the rest of the cobbler & dumplings to pig out on the rest of the weekend.

We celebrated it in the spirit of the original. We invited the neighbors over for a feast, then later we slaughtered them and stole their land.
