Default How I am since the cancer and God's blessings

I decided I wanted to post this from my Doogie Howser electronic diary I keep tonight.
I pray no one is offended.

    Tuesday, December 15, 2009. 12:03 AM

Not much going on today as I lay in bed late playing with the dogs as I was still drugged from yesterdays PET scan.

Well, tonight when I looked at my cell phone I noticed I had four missed calls. Then I realized I had left my cell laying on my desk all day.

The first message was from Dr. Greenberg’s wonderful nurse Penny with my PET scan results.

I don’t know how to put in words what I feel but here goes and I know I’ll miss someone.

The message said “Jack the PET scan looked good and clear. All of the cancer in your throat, voice box, tong, and lymph nodes is gone. They are all free and clear. There still were the two very small nodules in your lungs we saw the first time and they have not changed. All of the doctors and scan readers have suggested we do nothing with those except keep an eye on them but they feel they are anomalies and are nothing to worry about.”

Once more I’d like to thank God for his passion in giving the doctors, technicians, nurses, pharmacy, and all of the staff the skills they needed to combat and defeat such a cruel disease. Without his blessings I and many more would not be here today. I want to give thanks for his miriciles. May these blessing be passed on to more and more who suffer as we learn about Cancer.

Now that getting over swallowing with pain doesn’t seem so far to phantom.

Thanks to you God’ Let me be a witness to pass on your good news whenever fit.

Thanks to my oldest daughter Tahnea who lives over 200 miles away in Chickasha, Oklahoma who left her home to be with me 24x7 through the worst of the radiation and chemo treatments. She woke me, drove, kept me eating, and made all of the doctor’s appointments while filling my prescriptions, helping me eat, and devising the nifty feeding tube stand I’m still using. How she did this and saved her own family 200 miles away I don’t know. But God had to have helped. I owe her dearly and I just recently learned she was here full time for almost three months. She was a lifesaver.

Thanks to all at church who called, sent a card, or came by when they could.

Thanks to the Little Lights who came to visit me and Grayson who even made me a “Build-A-Bear” steer named BEVO who had my same birthday date and Grayson didn’t even know it!

Thanks to Grayson, Cole, Daniel, John, and all the other Little Lights who taught me about God when I was supposed to be teaching them. I learned so much from you guys.

Thanks to the Melba and Ginger from church who came by at least once a week to check on me. It sure made me feel good knowing they were always there. Oh yea, the Three Amigos; Chewie, Sadie, and Zoe still want you to keep coming byJ

And to my wife Billie who has been outstanding through all of this when I wasn’t. I made her suffer when I didn’t mean for her too and then again when I was just mad about the situation and striking out. But she’s still here. I had to wake her up and let her listen to the voicemail tonight. Yea, I know she has to go to work but I know she wanted to know and it was important to her too.

Thanks to all who have been keeping tabs on me and I hope to see and ride or Miata cruise with many of you soon.

Man I am so happy tonight and feel so blessed.

    Peace brothers and sisters.

Fantastic news!! My dad had the blessing's of God himself. He had an aortic valve replacement in 2005 and ONE year later was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Today he is considered a miracle by his doctor at MD Anderson. (you just have to research AML and you'll understand) His cancer is clear and the time to have check ups has increased.
Good luck with the lungs, we will keep you in our prayers!!!
