Ditto... but I think the scar could be a shift pattern.
BTW, you should drop the top and send pics to Boss Frog. It'd be a nice product testimonial, and a warning to raccoons everywhere.

She started right up this afternoon. Hood is wedged shut so I can't get it up without a prybar. I don't want to cause any extra damage that could have an effect on the insurance company providing a quick settlement so I will have to wait until an adjuster makes it out here. Damn, Mazda builds a fine roadster. Passenger compartment except the windshield fold is totally squared away. If I had changed the tire and slouched down like a lowrider I could have driven her around the yard.

When I think about it, that scar may be the Chinese character for "Hung like a Horse".![]()

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

WOW. I added a roll bar this year and am glad I did. Should not have taken so long.

There are a lot of things that go into how "strong" a roll bar is. While the NC bar is better than nothing, I would rather have something like a Hard Dog Sport or hard Core for two reasons:
- The NC bar is really short. I'd rather have something taller than my head.
- The NC bar has no rear supports. Being able to support 1.5 times the car's weight in the vertical direction is not the same as staying upright in the more likely rolling/sliding type of accident where the force is not applied vertically.
Again, I'm not saying the NC hoops are bad. I've seen how well they are integrated to the OEM unibody, and they're much better than most of the OEM roll hoops I've seen. But they're not a substitute for a proper roll bar/cage.

Here's a thread on Goodwin's site with great photos of the stock NC bar and his optional ones. I have no worries at all that my bar will be able to support the car in a roll over and slide. I would like a taller bar though once I get harnesses.
Two things I'm concerned about daily driving is a t-bone and a rear end where a truck rolls up on top of me. I'll likely get Brian's double hoop with petty bars to the hard top mounts when I'm more track competitive and on r-comps.
I'm glad to see you are ok.
I've been procrastinating on the rollbar, this may change my mind.
Missing my Miata...

It was the last thing I installed and by far the best and smartest thing I did. I now get chills when I think of how long I went without one and my aggressive driving occasions. I amaze myself knowing I was just driving home casually not having fun on some backroad twisty when I rolled it. When I was 18 I rode a Honda Interceptor instead of driving a car. I was a speed demon and loved the twistys. Friends and family always told me I was going to have a bad accident if I didn't slow down. Ironically I lost my right leg on that bike sitting at a stop sign not while attempting to break a land speed record. I was hit from behind by a young girl in a Granada that was in a hurry and did not stop. The expensive helmet I at the time did not like to wear and the leather jacket saved my life. When I get my next Miata after insurance settles the first thing going on is that BossFrog double hoop.

So what did the insurance adjuster have to say..... Will it buff out???
Have not got the check yet. Total loss. I bought it for salvage value, payed my deductable, insurance payed off bank loan. I end up with $500 to buy another.
