Thread: I don't think it will buff out.

Default I don't think it will buff out.

Hit a racoon on the way home from being on call in Tyler last Friday. I had hit another racoon the Sunday night before and it only put a hole in the bumpercover. This one ran out from the woods fast from the left side of the road and was as big as a Labrador. I know, don't try to avoid the animals and stay straight but it was BIG. I swerved to the left and still struck it with the right wheel. That put me in a skid and when I left the road to the right and went sideways in the soft dirt the Miata rolled 3 times starting on the drivers side. I finished upside down in a ditch. Luckily did not roll on the pavement. Thank God for BossFrog. My head was struck by a cross bar on the soft top at very vascular spot. I thought I was upside down in a puddle but it was just my laceration squirting. Took me about 15 minutes to get myself out buy kicking on the passenger door. After wedgeing myself out I literally was able to walk away with only some scratches and little less blood. Thank God for BossFrog and Mazda engineering! Found my cel and called my beautiful wife to come get me with my 3 beautiful children. I was only about 6 miles from the house. I stopped listening to her count the stitches on my head close to 40 the other night.
I am still waiting for an adjuster to come but I am sure it will be totaled due to the windshield collapse. I can only hope insurance pays off the note, lets me buy it back so I can stripoff my add on's and I have something left for a down payment on another NB so I can start over. Until then I am stuck back in the Dodge 3500Ram for my commute.

    ARGHHHHHHH!

Damn, I'm glad you came through as well as you did. I hope the insurance company does you OK.

Also, hope for a speedy recovery for you. (That's going to be some scar.)

Holy crap! I am sure glad you are OK. I could be wrong, but I think you may be the first on the board to roll a Miata.

Dang. Glad to hear that you're OK. I've been planning on a roll bar at some point but I think it just moved a lot higher up on my list of mods.

The last pic reminds me of when I had to have my scalp stapled

I asked the ER Doc if the hair would grow back. He had no sense of humor and just shrugged.

Glad you're OK. Sorry about your car.

Wow, glad you're okay. Every time someone posts pics of a wrecked Miata, I'm amazed at how well the car holds up. Truly a testament to the engineers at Mazda. It also makes me feel better about my chances of surviving a run-in with the local idiots.

Adding a rollbar was the first thing I did to my car. It's one of the best things you can do to a Miata to improve its safety.

That's why they're standard equipment now.

My wife thinks it looks like a number 4. I guess I have a new number to put on the next Miata when I get back to the track so all the numbers are matching.

Wow, what a crash! +1 glad that you walk away with "a badge of honor and a story to tell for years to come" Speedy recovery and back on the road again soon with your next new ride! I am glad that I buy my Miata's. Strong, well built and most of all, TCB enough for me to enjoy!

Is the roll bar in the NC is as strong as the Hard Dog or the Frog Bar?

You realize you're not supposed to actually road test the roll bar, right? PDR and a little buffing oughta straighten that right out.

Glad you're okay... I bet that was a pants-wetting moment for sure.

Stronger I think. Mounts in 6 places with two horizontals I believe. Been awhile since I looked and my shop manual's loaned out right now. They say it will hold 1.5x the weight of the car.

I thought it looked like the letter H, which could be part of a larger tattoo, something like "I Hate Raccoons".
