How much more work would it really be?
So how much more work would it really be if I wanted to swap motors with a 01 as opposed to the 97 both are 1.8 but the 01 was the year they came with the VVT and cant really find to much online about it. I currently have the 1.6 in my 92'
You won't be able to control the VVT with the oem computer. I believe Hydra and Adaptronic computers will control the VVT, but you ate talking big bucks just to do that. Check out the pionty board, there have been numerous threads about this issue. Other than that one problem, it would be just like a normal 1.8 swap. plenty of info available for that.

Why not just drop one from the 99-00 with 01+ header? This combo will give you more HP for the amount of $ and work.

well I have a 97 motor but on CL theres an 01 for 300 so if it would have been just as easy I would have bought that and sold the other one.
