Default Paint disposal in Plano/Richardson/Garland area?

    Hey guys,

Does anyone know somewhere in the Plano/Richardson/Garland area where I can dispose of old paint cans? I’ve got 16-18 one gallon cans left over from the previous owner and the original build of the house. Most of them still have some paint in them. I’d like to get rid of them and reclaim some garage space.

    Thanks!
    Iain

IESI will do curb side pickup for McKinney residents. They take paint, herbicides, poisons, etc...

The Dallas County HHW site only takes waste from participating Dallas County city residents...and they will verify.

Check the website of the city you live in. Allen and Plano will pickup but you have to call in advance. Garland, Richardson, and of course Dallas are member cities for the Dallas Co. Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Road - near the RR tracks. They are closed on Mondays & Friday

If you aren't in a hurry - you can combine the paint into as few cans as possible, let the empty paint cans dry out and then put them out with your regular trash.

You can just dry the paint at home and then throw it in the trash if you don't want to haul it.

Most communities have an annual day when you can drop off hazardous type stuff. Call the Murphy city building (or barn in your case) and see what they say.

    Frisco has a dropoff: http://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/departmen...s/default.aspx

You can get free mulch there too.

(not that that helps you Iain, but it might help others in Frisco)

As a Murphy resident, I'm apparently screwed, since we don't partner with anyone that will accept paint. I'd really like to do the right thing here, but at this point I'm just tempted to hide a can in my trash each week until they're gone.

As for letting it dry - I remixed it all by hand and let several cans sit open for two weeks, hoping it would dry. Most of them were so old that the oils just separated out again.

I've got a couple to dispose of this weekend (as well as some oil). You're welcome to drop them off with me.
