Around here you to work with the broomstick test the hardtop can be added, but only if its bolted on. Not that it would have changed the ending, but I am puzzled that the hardtop was allowed without being bolted on. Although the NASA Miata Challenge thread made me wonder about rules interpretations with track orgs anyway.
MSR - Cresson allows you to go on track with a hardtop or STYLE BAR. I think it is stupid to not require a FUNCTIONAL safety device for an open top car, but I have used that same rule to run on the track a few times.
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).
i think the hardtop was bolted on it just came off from the impact...
This really reminds me to make sure I have all the safety equipments in my miata before I do another track day.
