All the radio and brake adjustments were on the previous lap. Nails is quick and I required new shorts after the ridealong. Next year I want some payback with him in my pass seat.

Yeah I need a slip but I lifted and that was the root cause. I need to grow a pair and leave my foot in it. Would love a ride with ya Sixace.

i see 2 major problems. 1st, why are you spinning like that? you need to check your suspension settings. maybe try getting on facat's susp. table. even if you're letting off at the wrong time, (which isn't the case in some of those vids.) your car shouldn't snap oversteer like that. also, i know the driving instructors tell you "slow hands" etc... but there's also a time for "really fast" hands, and one of them is when trying to catch a loose rear. another possibility from what i saw in of those vids is braking after turn-in. get your braking done in a straight line, use the throttle to control angle mid corner. once you get more seat time you can work on trail braking on safe, lower speed corners.

2nd, hustler needs to work on looking forward. the fact that he was close to you at speed proves he was looking at the ground a few feet ahead of the car. it's a tough habit to break, but essential for going fast safely. i've seen instructors put vinyl over the bottom 6" of windshield to keep their students from doing that.

If you don't have a torsen, stop, get one and then try again.
Before I put the torsen in my 00 it was an oversteer machine (and no power out of corners). Once I put the torsen in it was almost like the car had AWD (other than the lack of terminal understeer).

Don't discount how bad an open diff is.

You're both right. I don't know about Hustler though. He said the wheel slipped in his new gloves so I think he was expecting to give me a wider berth.

I don't have coilovers but my bars are adjustable so maybe I need to work on those but the LSD is next on my to-do list. Thanks for the advice.

Spoolin2bars made a few good points. As a 'said instructor', taking what you have, how tight was your grip? Your hand placement and smoothness are great, but how hard are you gripping the steering wheel. Maybe lighten the grip? I was not in the car with you, so it is just a suggestion. That will make for 'fast' hands for recovery. Otherwise, maybe you are charging corners a little?

Thumbs are up. I'm not holding the wheel tightly I just don't have much recovery experience. I was charging the corners and straights and anything else in my way since I was trying to catch up to NCEunos, and since I had a transponder for the first time, and since I knew it was recorded on video. Last year I was clean at Hallett. This year I was rusty and pushed it way too hard. However, I had only one off (with Iaian in the car) at the MSR event the following month, and no spins or offs at ECR this month. I just need to get out more and not worry about my times compared to others.

Nails, you should try mixing in some autocross with your racing schedule. I really can't think of a better way of developing car control. Like spoolin was saying you have to be smooth, but you've got to have quick hands to catch slides.

You're looking really smooth out there. Keep it up and get some more seat time. Let me know if you want me to check out your setup next time we're at the track together.

I remember seeing that video because I was trying to figure out what that annoying sound was. You're driving Thomas Otto's car I believe. I welcome any opportunity for you to ride with me or me, you. I will get to some empty parking lots over the winter months to practice but no autocrosses. I haven't the patience to stand around six hours for six minutes of seat time. Sorry.

That's cool you wouldn't be competitive anyhow.

I will give you track guys credit you can milk an event that been over for 96 days and still get content! Maybe that is why most of you only do a couple track days a year.

That passenger in the s2k looks like he's about half as bad as I am in terms of bitching and complaining while riding. Also, I'm willing to give all your GF's a ride, just PM pics to me.

On a side note, leather wheels and gloves don't mix. That near miss would have been a lot larger if my hand didn't slip.

This was actually a different car (Dave's).

I understand not wanting to stand in a parking lot all day for an autocross, but you won't learn how to catch a full speed slide at the track driving in an icy parking lot over the winter. I won't hurt to do this, but it's not a substitute for sliding a car on dry pavement. It's a feel thing.

Either way, I'll see you at the track soon!
