Thumbs up Techday: HDHCHTDD Rollbar Install and foamectomy - 5/15/10 - 9am

    Hi all,

Just ordered the hard dog roll bar thru TDR, looking for some help to install it. And at the mean time, would also like to do a foamectomy on my stock seat.

Taking stuff apart and drilling holes are not something I feel confidence in, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I can host it at my parent's in Plano, or somewhere more central if some nice person can host.

Pizzas and Beers will be provided, and whatever tools need to get the job done.

The bar should arrive by next week, so any date after that works best for ya'll will do.

    Poll Added

    TIA,

    Alan

I'll help if I'm free that day. I have an official electric-knife foam-ectomizer.

    PS
You'll want some black zip-ties on hand, unless you are going to replace the hog-rings with more hog-rings.

If my schedule is open that day I'm all for it!!!

Don't you also need a long drill bit for the roll-bar?

I will help if I am free. I could host in North Alrington on 5/15, but we will need to finish by 3 PM. I am also open 5/16.

Yep...Majik has the one we've used several times.

I may be available to help but am unable to commit to any day right now due to prior obligations that may take precedence
    Blah blah blah!

I'm far from being central, but I would happily host if needed. Have garage, relatively large compressor, air tools, hand tools, hog ring pliers and hog rings, and experience installing at least a dozen rollbars (although my last one was about 4 years ago) and gutting 2 pairs of seats (again, a few years ago). Oh, and a grill.

The rollbar is IN. Since jrj512 is open 5/16 and his place is central, let make this happens!

What start time is good? 10am?

How about Saturday the 15th instead...any conflicts? Alan, you'll need to get a long 3/8" drill bit if Majik isn't available. Don't forget the zip ties too.

15th actually better for me too but we have to get done by 3PM according to jrj512. So we start early? like 8 or 9?

What brand of 3/8" drill bit should I get? And how long zip ties?

jrj512, please comment in since you are the nice host!

The brand of bit doesn't matter...you'll want a 12" long metal cutting bit, 3/8" size. 'Regular' zip ties are fine...6" or so.

PM Majik before you run out and buy a bit.

The most time consuming part is trimming the interior plastic bits to fit around the roll-bar uprights.

When I did the trim on the LE I used my $7 Harbor Freight air cutoff tool and followed it up with a little sandpaper to clean up the melted edges. took about 15 minutes.

I still have my drill bit in the trunk of the car. Bought it a couple weeks ago when I was doing my HDHC. You guys are welcomed to use it/keep it/turn it into a prison shank if you want.

Hopefully my bar will be here by then and I will be at home getting it installed that weekend. I should have slipped Gary a $20 to have him tell Alan that his bar was "delayed".
