I currently drive a NB everyday and I do enjoy the noise very much. The drive to work and the drive home is the best part of my day other than when I get home and gets lots of hugs and kisses from my kids. having the top down and not being able to hear talk radio or NPR really helps keep my attitude happy and my blood pressure down.

If I was driving 100 miles a day I think I would look into a 2006-2007 low milage Lincoln Towncar. like this one with 13k miles @ $19,000.

I got to take one on a trip while my Miata was in the shop being repaired under warrenty back a few years ago. Best riding car I have ever driven.

I'd probably go with the Z4 or a PRHT NC.
I really like the simplicity, lightness, and look of the ragtop tho.

That is almost exactly what I use to ride. '84 Honda V45 Interceptor. I got got run down by a drunk in a Granada in '84 and she took my right leg off below the knee. It was a sweet ride though. Miata's and MG's are the closest I have been able to get back to that thrill since.

I was just thinking of the Boxter S. I need to add that to my consideration.

[QUOTE=Miatamoto;209229] Roll bar options for the NC are not great and one of the biggest drivers for me selling mine. Addition of any of the single hoop roll bar options will make the NC top harder to use.
    QUOTE]
As often as I have ended up upside down in my car... Dodge 2500 Ram, MG B, Mazda NB Miata, aftermarket rollbar is a must on my list of wants. I seem to recall a lengthy debate on this board of nonacceptance of the factory Miata NC rollbar by a couple of sanctioning organizations. Are there double hoop bars out there that are approved?

Not yet because said sanctioning bodies haven't gotten around to it. Goodwin has a nice beefy double hoop that is tall enough for "broomstick test." The new Hard Dog bar should be ok too for any track. As for raising/lowering top you can still do it with one hand passing it off to the other behind the bar. Sandor has the Goodwin double hoop and NCEunos has the new Hard Dog.

The Miata wins over the S2K alone for theft reasons.

The S2000 is the best out of the box package, and has several legal roll bar options available in the aftermarket. Given the service/ownership costs of the BMW and the inherent drawbacks of the NC as a doublr duty DD/track car, I'd opt for the S2000.

That said, I wouldn't want to commute 100+ miles a day in any convertible, so I voted for cheese and sausage.

I just got back from South Carolina. (one way) 1040 miles in 16 hours cost me 47.00.
in my 2007 GT that was taking the last two states at 90-105 mph most of the way, still had much more pedal, still drove great and saved me a butt load of money
