Default FS: FM Frame Rails and Butterfly Brace - never used

I've decided to go with Hard Dog door bars, so I'm selling a complete FM Butterfly that's never been installed. The center section has been modified by TDR to drop out easily for exhaust and transmission work. It's basically brand new - I unpacked it, but it's just been sitting in the garage for a while.

I'm asking $400 for it - remember, it's new, it's already got the TDR mod, and I'll bring it to you if you're local! If that sounds outrageous, feel free to PM with offers.

This is a stock photo from FM's website, but this is what you'll get:
    '94 Black & Black & Tan
'99 head swap, JR header, TDR intake & header blanket, MegaSquirt, RB hollow bar, Tein Flex, 15x8 6ULs, HD M2 Sport, FM cat, Borla cat-back, black '95M interior, MOMO Zebrano, IL Motorsport console...

    Dyno Days
    8/16/08 (bone stock): 103.1 hp/99.0 lb-ft - Dynojet
    8/23/08 (Borla cat-back): 108.2 hp/104.1 lb-ft - Dynojet
    8/13/11 (more stuff...): 126 hp/116 lb-ft - Mustang dyno

Smokin deal. Its amazing how much difference that makes in how the car feels.

This is very true. I drove Hawk's car before he sold it, and it's amazing how much tighter it feels with the Butterfly. I would've installed it on my car, but my frame rails are so horrifically disfigured (partly my fault) that it would be a huge PITA to do so.

    ***sigh***

If only I had $400 to spend right now.

A BFH will fix those rails. That's what we used on Black Roadster's car.

What exactly you BFH? You hammer the rails into submission?

I have a body dent puller the buyer can borrow if the rails are crushed. I didn't install a brace but I did straighten the rails.

I think Gary said he had to use a BFH on my rails when he replaced the midpipe last month. I lived in an apartment complex for 6 months while the house was being built and they had BF speed bumps. :)

I'm very tempted, but I'm about $200 away from Tein Flexes. After spending last weekend at MSR I can't wait to see what a new suspension can do. If you've still got it in August I may be interested...

From fm's site "Fits all Miatas, although the 2001-02 cars with Sport package and all 2003-05 Miata and MX-5s are already equipped with something similar from the factory. Weighs 32 lbs, all below the CG of the car and well centered for the minimum effect on handling. Cars with a stock header will require some trimming to a factory heatshield. 1990-93 cars with stock header and catalytic converters will be a difficult install and may not fit."

I emailed FM on the fitment. They say the middle section needs a modified bracket to clear the exhaust on the NB which goes for $140!

I may have been shamed into installing them. I'm going to take a look under the car and see what it's going to take to get my rails in shape...
