Thread: Corrected Hallet Video

    Default Corrected Hallet Video

Ok, I'm a dipstick when it comes to figuring all this stuff out After further review of the data and vids, the previously posted lap (where I screw up turn 10) was NOT my fastet lap DOH!

I've deleted the previous vid from vimeo.

Here's most of the session. What messed me up is the differences between AMB and Traqmate. It seems AMB does not pick up the warm up lap and thus the laps were off. Whatever.

On the plus side, the vid now has data. The tach is a little jumpy (crappy vampire tap likely) and the gear indicator is not working (it's in the data though hmmm?), but other than that I'm happy to have figured it out at least this far. I'm sure it will get easier and better vids.

In the vid you'll see me chasing Ken O at the start, but I see that traffic will be an issue so I back off on lap 2 to get some spacing. Ken seems to do the same on lap 3. My best lap is #7

AMP reports the lap as 1:27.829
Traqmate (gps) says its 1:27.838 (pretty close)

Anyway, I'm done messing with it for a while. It's starting to give me a headache.
    Enjoy

ps, Ken please post up your vids when you get the chance. I like to see my car for a few laps instead of yours

    1:26...I hate you Ken, seriously.

Do you guy's think the data helps? MaxQ canceled my order so I can either pocket the money, corner balance the car, double-down and buy traqmate, or double and buy a top-fuel wing.

The MaxQ really helps you learn the track. With predictive lap timing you instantly know if you had a better line or not. It is also good to know if you should push the lap or back off allow the car to cool, tires to cool and make a run for a fast lap.
    M3 is always the answer.

I think the buggest help for me is comparing data from similar cars. When I saw tanners data from TWS, I knew instantly where I could pick up time, so yeah it helps in that regard. I'll be picking up a little notebook pc to be able to see it at the track. Of the choices you listed, I think the biggest bang for you (I did all of them except pocket the money) would be to take it to MER and have them do the setup (ride height and balance). My car was much better after I got it back from them...

They quoted me $400 "if its close". I may buy a set considering that one trip to MER is half the price of the scales. I wonder if people would give me say $100 for unlimited scale usage? If I could
get 4-people to agree to that, I'd buy them.

My tire wear tells me that its time to balance the car.

PTP also does it and they aren't $400. They're a haul (dt ft worth), but not as far as MER.

yeah, don't pay someone to do that. atleast not that much. that's crazy. you can buy a good used set of scales for 5-600.00 dollars. good luck on getting people to go in on it though. we tried that and half of the people that said they would do it flaked out, and we were only asking $50 per person.

Dan that video is great. You're alot more comfortable with the car since last time at Hallett. That last lap on turn one you were 75 mph at the apex and peaking at 2g according to the telemetry.

Ken your first time on that track and you're doing 1:26's! At the end of your video you were at 90.3 mph just before the finish line; last year I was doing 90 just before braking for turn one. So I figure I could follow you for maybe a third of a lap before losing sight of you just like I did Gary last year.

    Nice driving guys!

Dam, I just has my alignment done! I'll be interested in this! I've wondering the same thing. We should not have any problem to pull this off, given how many cars around here have the suspension done! You want to start a list on this?

Sure, start a list. I think Johnfag and I are going to buy a set...hopefully we never split and have to liquidate this assett. I may even buy some alignment plates in the future considering my options are $300 "custom alignments" by shops that don't take accuracy seriously because its not a Porsche.

I went to Cobb's in Plano. I am a happy camper! The tech spent one and half hour on the alignment. When he max'ed out and still could not get my spec. the 'car setup' guy came and talk to me and gave suggestion. Very porfessional! They let me in the car too. It is not bad for $100 custom alignement.

Start the list and I'll be the first customer!
