I got welder, but am not available this weekend. If you want to make the drive over some other weekend I could help.
I got a couple Elise seats here (05, non probax, with extra foam added).
There are a few mounting options that people have devised.
Has anyone locally installed them?
Anyone with a welder and some time in the next couple days want to play around with me and try and get these guys in?

Ya, there are about a few designs that look really good (and half a dozen that look really sketchy).
Here's a couple of the good ones (in no particular order):

(semi-sketchy)
Here's what they look like installed (when on the factory sliders):

Those should give you the head room you need to get under the bar

Well before spending the $$$ on pre-made brackets, I decided to fab up something in the garage first (old school, nuts and bolts, think erector set). Good thing I did. Even with the bottom of the seat on the stock rail, my head was way over a horizontal line from the top of the windshield with my helmet on (I'm all torso my wife tells me). So I took a play from altain's playbook and modified the bracketry and bolted them to the floor. Lots of clearance, even with a helmet on.
I need to rebuild the bracket to be more structural and to put me further to the center of the car, but I think we have a winner. Of course, now my wife can't see over the steering wheel (reaches the pedals just fine though and she's 5'4", told you I have a long torso!).
The ones I made look an awful lot like the "semi-sketchy" ones above LOL.
