These are good from what I've heard, idk about being on a miata though
I have a 2007 MX5 GT
I want a very good traction tire, but not R comps
not all season, think extreme traction.
205/45/17 is my size
also since i am not runnin OEM wheels and mine are 17X7.5 could I change my tire size to open up more tire options?
I have been looking around and haven't found anything I am really sold on yet, thought you guys might have some input

Hey Billy, the Dunlop Star Specs are a very good tire at a somewhat reasonable price. I suggest a 215 instead of 205. You could even do 225 but you'd lose sidewall stiffness. If you can find Hankook RS2's, that's what I have now, they are very good too. I have 215/40/17 RS2s stretched on 8 inch wheels and it has much more stiffness and steering response than the 235 wide Toyo T1Rs I had on them before.
I was looking at the RS2's but TR only has them in 235![]()

Might drop down in size for your wheels.
I got my RS2s on a clearance. They're discontinued due to RS3s. As for the 255 on a 17x9 you would need to fender roll for that size.
I was under the impression you were keeping your rims Billy.
I'm running the Dunlop Star Specs on my stock wheels right now. I bumped it up to 215
Also they have decent treadwear considering the performance you're getting outta them.
I drive them at pizza hut five days a week and I have 3 autox's under them, so far so good.

Nails, i am keeping my rims.
TR only offers the RS3's in 235, mine are currently 205.
I am not planning on going 255 as I have 7.5 rims
I mispoke when I said RS2's i meant 3's

Billy,
I just put on some Hankook V12 on my Mazdaspeed 3 and so far I'm giving them a thumbs up. They have a tremendous amount of grip in the corners and straight line. I don't seem to be able to lite up the tires like before on take-off.
They finish just behind the Star Specs on a Car and Driver test and they are $85 each in your stock size and you can get a $50 rebate on 4 tires.
Here is the tire comparison test

And here they are on Tire rack:
