Default Harness recommendation - has to be from SafeRacer

I got a racing seat for my b-day last month but I quickly learned that it would work ok for the track but it wasn't going to work very well for the street and the shoulders were a bit tight on me. So back it went. For seats they only issue in store credit. So I'm looking for one or two harnesses for $350.

My Hard Dog Hard Core Roll Bar has harness tabs. Which style harness do I need/want? I think I'm going to go with a 5 point because a friend of mine says he has a good way of mounting the sub belt for 5 point harnesses. I'm going to do a bit of foamectomy and just use the stock seats with the harness.

SafeRacer carries Schroth, Sparco, Simpson, and G-Force. I'd like to pick up two harnesses for about $350, but if $175/harness will get me unsafe harnesses I'll just get one for now.

    Thanks for the help.

Get a 6 point. No need to cut the seat in order to mount the 5th point (you sit on the straps and wrap them over your legs).

I'm sure you've been told this, but the stock seats with a harness aren't safe since they'll slip off your shoulders. You'll likely need to get a sternum harness/protector in order to be somewhat safe.

I'd recommend a 5 or 6-point, since a 4-point harness can ride up on your waist. For hardware, you'll want eye bolts and clip-in anchors on the harness. TDR sells all the hardware, including the stuff to mount an anchor for the crotch strap.

+1 about using a harness with a stock seat - the shoulder straps will tend to slip off. Not good.

BTW, I sent you a PM...
