    Default 1994-1996 Brake Question

anyone got a picture of how the little W shaped springies go onto the rear brakes ?

or can look at these and tell me if correct or not ?

I'm converting a 93 to 94-96 brakes, and the misc parts kit I bought doesn't have new W springs (or whatever was used on those years) in it

got a different kit on order, but in the meantime, I put the old W springs on in the same manner as the 93 but it doesn't seem right to me

put the top one on so that the bottom of the W faces up, and the two legs of the W just sit inside the top notch on the pad backing plate

the middle of the W is laying on the pointed finger of the metal piece that the pads sit on

and, does anyone know if there are W springs on both top and bottom?

a 93 kit I have only had two springs and four of the metal clips the pads sit on

shop manual looks like only had a W spring at the top, but not clear to me

    thanks

    Pics look correct to me.

90-93 brakes are smaller than 94+

    that's why I'm changing

and the rear pads have two notches in the backing plate, whereas the 93 has one

just didn't look like it would really do anything

unless the ends of the W spring sit up against the caliper when it is in place

I think they are meant to help keep the pads from dragging on the rotors.
