Don't forget you're comparing an '04 to a '96. Just a thought.
The rear support plates cover the ABS holes completely. Was yours a Sport bar? If so, then this is very peculiar. I mean seriously, I even used part of the ABS line hole for one of the rear support bolts. All I had to do was drill it out a little.
I had to disconnect the ABS harness and pull the wire out of the hole before I even set the bar in the car. It would completely have crushed the wire.

Make sure you use grommets for ANY hole you reroute wires through!!!
You don't want to have the wires cut in 2 or insulation cut through & the wires grounded out.

Thanks. The ABS wires have a plastic sleeve already because Mazda routes them up through the body. That's actually why I need precisely a 3/4" drill bit: to match the hole size and allow the sleeve to seat properly.
