Angry programming a key with only 1

I just bought an 2006 miata MX5 and it only has 1 key. The dealer wants $115 to program another key, just for the programming!!. According to what I've read the method to clone a key only works if you have 2 keys. Does anyone have any info on who can help with this in the DFW area. I'm Looking for a reasonable price to get get the key and maybe the remote entry programmed. I know that Parts are available for reasonable $ on ebay. Anybody got a connection to a dealer mechanic?

sometimes locksmiths can program keys, not always the EXACT same as the dealer keys, but they might be able to make another one.

and for keyless entry, search around online. i know i found a keyless entry remote for my friends S2K with programming instructions for pretty cheap from a reputable place online

Yeah, I'm looking to save some money. Locksmiths and dealers are waaaayyy too proud of what they do with the transponder keys. I was hoping someone knew of a reasonable way to get a second key that works and maybe a keyless entry too.
