I found this when searching for the differences with the VVT belt change - http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=173584
Let us know how it goes once it cools off I need to change the timing belt on my 2002.
Doing the timing belt on an 01 with VVT. When re-installing how do you line up the marks on the intake cam? Same way as doing it on the non-vvt cars??
Thanks for any help guys,

Did a TB/WP job at the shop on an 03 today. The instructions on m.net make sense. The intake cam gear can only go on one way. There is only one timing mark on the intake cam gear so you can line it up with "E" on the black plate behind the cam gears.
Be prepared for a crapload of oil to spill out of the vvt gear.
Eh it's long done. We got'er timed properly and got everything assembled and functioning properly. Thanks for the link :)
