I've never had to readjust anything after a battery change.
But I recently changed the battery in the '02 it did what yours is doing but then after a day or so it figured out what it needed to do and went back to normal. FWIW
I had my battery disconnected for several hours on Saturday while installing my Momo wheel. Since then my car has been idling at around 2000 rpms instead of the normal 850. Sometimes it will drop back down to normal, but then it goes back up. Do you normally need to adjust the idle after the battery has been disconnected?

Interesting....never seen that happen before. Just for grins, disco the battery again and then hold the brake pedal for a few seconds to drain the electrical system. Reconnect the battery and see if anything changed.
