Looks like this project is on hold for now. I just found out that it's an open diff, not a Torsen.

POS and I were trying to figure out how to identify Torsen without 'cracking' it open. I called the place I got it from and got the VIN. Called Mazda, who told me it was a Canadian model and marked 'Branded' (a nice word for totalled). Talked to Mazda Canada (905-787-7000 for future reference) and was told it was a 'base' model. (You couldn't get Torsen in Canada without leather like we could in the states.)

They (the sellers) are picking it up tomorrow morning and refunding my money.

Sorry to hear that, Sammm. Glad to hear that the sellers are willing to do the right thing.

How much do they want for the open diff? I might buy it if it is cheap enough?

Since the Seller isn't smart enough to know what they're selling you OR the Seller just tried to scam you....I think you should name the Seller as a public service to this forum.
    Any thoughts?

Yes. I'm pissed that it's not a Torsen!

Probably a good idea to name them - they are: http://www.brimsimport.com/ - I found them on www.car-part.com

I will say they didn't give me any grief when I told them of their error.

Did they offer to try and send you another one? They have several listed on their site.

She told me she didn't have any others to send at this time. I only see 2, and one of them is the one I have. What are you seeing?

That does indeed suck, but atleast you will get your money back .
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

I was looking at all carriers for 94-2005 Miata. I didn't pay attention to how many they said were open vs. torsen, as I figured they obviously do not know how to tell.

Ok, I've done a diff change in just over 30 min. You guys should be able to do it in under an hour. Ready.......GO!

I'll help if I can! I'm pretty busy, but I finally got my turbo celica on the road, so i have a LITTLE more time.

OK then, when and where this time? I'd like to watch and might even be able to give a hand.

I just love work, I could sit and watch it all day
