Looks like this project is on hold for now. I just found out that it's an open diff, not a Torsen.

Wha??? That blows!! What happened?
POS and I were trying to figure out how to identify Torsen without 'cracking' it open. I called the place I got it from and got the VIN. Called Mazda, who told me it was a Canadian model and marked 'Branded' (a nice word for totalled). Talked to Mazda Canada (905-787-7000 for future reference) and was told it was a 'base' model.
They (the sellers) are picking it up tomorrow morning and refunding my money.
Well, at least the refund is on it's way.

How much do they want for the open diff? I might buy it if it is cheap enough?

Since the Seller isn't smart enough to know what they're selling you OR the Seller just tried to scam you....I think you should name the Seller as a public service to this forum.

I was looking at all carriers for 94-2005 Miata. I didn't pay attention to how many they said were open vs. torsen, as I figured they obviously do not know how to tell.She told me she didn't have any others to send at this time. I only see 2, and one of them is the one I have. What are you seeing?
We're back on for a Torsen install! I just picked it up this afternoon.(Being able to see thru it on the bottom pic is a good thing!
